The last two games
Bears 34, Seahawks 17 · Monday, Nov. 2, at Seattle
Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions, and the Bears went 4 for 4 in the red zone and held the ball for 35 minutes. Williams opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown pass to rookie Luther Burden III in the first quarter, and Cairo Santos added field goals of 44 and 38 yards for a 13-3 lead. Seattle closed the half with Sam Darnold's 43-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, though Jason Myers missed the extra point.
Swift took over from there. His 1-yard run made it 20-9 in the third quarter, and after Darnold found Cooper Kupp for a touchdown and a two-point conversion to cut it to 20-17 early in the fourth, Swift answered with 5-yard runs at 8:28 and 4:41 to put the game away. He finished with 69 yards on a season-high 27 carries. Rome Odunze caught four passes for 87 yards, tight end Colston Loveland had seven catches for 65 yards and lost a fumble, and Burden caught seven for 56. Kalif Raymond's 39-yard run was Chicago's longest play of the night.
The defense held Seattle, the defending Super Bowl champions, to 252 yards. Jeffery Simmons, playing four days after the trade that brought him from Tennessee, had a sack, six tackles and a pass defensed and got a game ball, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reported. More on his debut. Montez Sweat, back from a two-game suspension, also had a sack, and James Lynch intercepted Darnold, who finished 17 of 34 for 188 yards. Smith-Njigba had six catches for 118 yards. The one blemish was discipline: 10 penalties for 85 yards.
Bears 30, Patriots 24 · Thursday, Oct. 22, at Soldier Field
Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, his second straight 300-yard game, and Burden caught four passes for 130 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown with 14 seconds left in the first half. Loveland caught a 12-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Drake Maye kept New England close with 321 passing yards, and after Santos missed a fourth-quarter attempt, he hit from 58 yards with 1:34 left to make it 30-21. Andy Borregales's field goal with 37 seconds to go left the final margin at six. D'Marco Jackson had Chicago's interception. The win was costly: tight end Cole Kmet hurt his right knee and is out for the season, ESPN reported.
Against the DraftKings lines ESPN lists for each game, the Bears covered both: they won at Seattle as 3-point underdogs and beat New England as 3-point favorites. Both games went over the total (46.5 in Seattle, 50.5 against the Patriots). Each final's recap and closing line is on its game page: Seattle, New England.
Through eight games, Swift has 545 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, Burden leads the team with 547 receiving yards, and Williams, who missed Weeks 3 through 5 with a hamstring injury, has 1,267 passing yards, six touchdowns and one interception in five games.
